The exceptional refinement in this widely publicized custom home on Mercer Island completed in 2003 was again the result of close coordination and interaction between owners, architect (The Miller-Hull Partnership http://www.millerhull.com/htm/home.htm/ ) and Miller & Miller Construction. A steep slope project requiring extensive geo-technical design & effort to incorporate and suuport the structural design itself.
The elegant balance of these modern interior spaces and materials are fully complimented by the level of craftsmanship throughout. The remarkable result of this synergy is as fresh today as when just completed.

The home has been published in numerous places. In March of 2007 the house was on the cover of residential architect magazine. It has been included as one of the featured homes in the book Wood: Contemporary Homes in Wood.

Evergreen Point Waterfront

This Evergreen Point Project renovated an existing home and developed 2 acres of lakefront amenities and gardens in conjunction with The Pence Associates http://www.pa-architects.net/ and The Berger Partnership http://www.bergerpartnership.com/ This project was photographed for Better Homes & Gardens Magazine.

Mercer Island Nautical

Subtle nautical and Eastern design accents in this Mercer Island custom lakefront home were a result of a close owner, architect (James Rudolph http://rarchitect.com/index.html) designer and builder collaboration throughout building process. From the exterior sculptural support elements to a floating curved cantilevered open stair system at the vertical core of the design, the results of this successful collaboration continue to be satisfying to those involved in that creative process. This site presented numerous logistical and engineering challenges. It had long been considered an unbuildable parcel. Careful design and geotechnical engineering opened the door for this multi-floored structure supported in part by a tall integral soiled nailed & shocrete rear retaining/support wall.

Duvall Custom Remodel

Drawing on childhood North Carolina memories the owners chose to incorporate a material of near "folk" status in that region of the country (Tulip Poplar bark siding). A material nearly unknown in the Northwest, though in fact our rainfall and areas of North Carolina are remarkably similar. The result: an exterior of storybook cottage charm that seldom fails to draw comment and inquiry.
The interior principles for the update were openness, functional areas for all family members, a spacious master spa inspired retreat with luxurious heated floors, steam shower, jacuzzi soaking tub beside a cozy gas fireplace. All this fully wrapped in local fir paneling. This fairy tale cottage also hides a very modern lighting control system as well as home theater & sound system that even Rumplestiltskin would have too agree, Really Rocks!

Central Washington Chateau

This central Washington chateau is truly a contemporary "Maryhill Mansion" North. The similarities with Samuel Hill's famous structure 90 miles south are numerous. It is the largest and most ornate of all projects Miller & Miller Construction has been involved in. Its' 27,000 square feet incorporate palatial scale millwork details, imported carved marble fireplace & over mantel sculptures, centralized refrigeration system for apprx 16 cabinetry incorporated refrigeration locations through out the property, attached greenhouse, formal rose garden, exquisite private office, den and theater spaces as well as home automation & lighting control systems. Completed by Ken Miller in 2000, the home was selected and published as a uniquely outstanding home in; “Washington: A Great Place to Live the collection of notable”
